Gallery owners, Allison and Ivan Barnett explain that "the Patina experience is one of immediate engagement with texture, scale, color and surface. Three of Kate Cusack's Zipper Jewelry designs were selected for inclusion in MoMA Design Store’s Destination: NYC Collection.

Destination: NYC is a product collection created by designers living and working in the five boroughs with all product manufactured in the United States.

To assemble the product collection, the MoMA Design Store held its first Open Call allowing New York City designers to submit their work. More than 1,000 entries were received and reviewed by a design jury to culminate in a curated collection with the work of 75 designers.

Destination: NYC is the 11th location in the MoMA Design Store Destination: Design series and celebrates design in New York City 

The Destination: NYC product collection is available in MoMA Design Stores in New York City (11 West 53 Street, 44 West 53 Street, 81 Spring Street) and Tokyo and at MoMAstore.org, MoMAonlinestore.co.kr, and MoMAstore.jp from May 2013 running through August 2013.

Philadelphia neighborhood celebrates the zipper with a fashion show featuring Zipper Jewelry

Join us on Saturday May 4th, as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the patenting of the invention that lead to the zipper. The Snyderman-Works Gallery will host a fashion show featuring local boutiques and shops from the Old City neighborhood showing off clothing, accessories and items that incorporate the zipper in many original ways. This fashion themed event will be a part of the First Friday Weekends in Old City. Zipper Jewelry by Kate Cusack will be featured at the Snyderman-Works Gallery.

LOOT 2012: MAD About Jewelry, is the ultimate pop-up shop for contemporary art and studio jewelry, whose proceeds benefit the Exhibition and Education programs of the Museum of Arts and Design, will run from Tuesday through Saturday, September 11 – 15, 2012.

Zipper Jewelry in "Dubh/Dialogues in Black" exhibit at American Irish Historical Society

Three of Kate's Zipper Necklaces are featured in the exhibit titled "Dubh/Dialogues in Black" which is currently on view at the American Irish Historical Society (991 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY) through November 13th, 2011. The exhibit was curated by Brian Kennedy and focuses on contemporary jewelry and objects that are all black in color but also black in "mood." Following the showing in New York, the exhibition will travel to Ireland where it will appear at Oliver Sears Gallery, Molesworth Street, Dublin from February 2 to March 15, 2012.


This is the second in a series of three exhibitions taking place under the direction of designer Joseph Walsh in an exciting new initiative called STUDIO practice established to facilitate dialogue, build relationships and encourage interdisciplinary engagements between Irish artists, designers and studio makers and their international contemporaries.

Z for Zipper Necklace: ABeCeDarian Exhibition

Kate Cusack's Zipper Necklace, "Elizabeth" represents the letter Z at Facere Jewelry Art Gallery's ABeCeDarian Exhibition.

26 artists were asked to create a piece of jewelry to correspond to a letter of the alphabet. Facere produced a book to correspond with the exhibition. To purchase a copy of the book or any of the pieces included in the exhibition, please contact Facere directly.

The ABeCeDarian Exhibition will be on view from May 18th through June 4th, 2011. The gallery is located at City Centre 1420 Fifth Ave. Seattle WA 98101.

Zipper Jewelry: Unlimited Spirit Art Video

Kate Cusack's Zipper Jewelry was the latest feature of the Unlimited Spirit video series created by Swiss luxury watch company, Rado.

Kate Cusack’s zipper jewelry is a culmination of her experiences transforming unusual materials in the world of costume design, window displays and sculptural/wearable designs. The pieces Kate creates are made from seemingly mundane materials and come to life when they are worn.

Kate crafts each piece by hand using nothing but zippers.
She is based in Brooklyn, New York.

Introducing... Zipper Lace: the new series of Zipper Necklaces by Kate Cusack.

This new collection features the metal teeth of the zipper -- without the fabric element of the zipper. The Zipper Lace necklaces are light-weight, graphic and stunning. They are perfect for spring and summer.

Currently, the Zipper Lace series is available at Julie: Artisans' Gallery in New York and The Snyderman Works Gallery in Philadelphia. A select number of new necklaces will also be available through Kate's online store.
