Zipper Jewelry for sale at Whitney Museum store

Zipper Pin featured in Remix Magazine

Adorning oneself in zippers could be the newest form of decoration. Brooklyn designer Kate Cusack's range of eccentric zipper jewelry redefines the function of the humble zip. Her range of necklaces are more than inspiring, they are wearable! She says; "They are most appealing in form because of how the metal teeth sparkle and how the linear construction potential is endless. A line can be shaped into anything. A zipper is simply a line."

Zipper Jewelry interview
Many thanks to Gretchen for her thoughtful interview on thefashionablefoodie.com
Gretchen writes:
Gretchen writes:
"I love that Kate doesn’t set artistic limitations on herself. Says Kate, “Because I see everything as an artist, it means I am freed up from certain constraints that typically come with certain professional approaches. I can see the material for what it is, what it “should” be used for, and then I can decide how I want to re-imagine it.”
Whether she’s designing elaborate costumes for stage productions, making wigs out of kitchen essentials, or reinventing the zipper, one constant with Kate is her love of unusual materials and her ability to transform them."
